The Best Bites

March and April

Fox River Walleye & Lake Michigan: Jumbo Perch Trophy walleye in the Fox River at DePere are one of the top bites in the state of Wisconsin. This is the first major open water bite of the year and marks the end of a long cold winter. With a bag limit of only 1 fish over 28” per day your chances of catching a “trophy” class walleye are great.

This is also a great time to experience some of Lake Michigan’s “jumbo” perch. While there is a limit of 5 per day per person it is common to catch limits of perch over 13” up to 15”!

May and June

SE Wisconsin Musky:
SE Wisconsin Muskies
The first Saturday of May marks “opening day” for our musky season in the southern part of Wisconsin (below HWY 10). Some of the best musky fishing in the state will occur during this time. In June of 2005 Sterling Guide Service had 2 muskies over 50” with a 53 ¼” and a 52” just 3 days apart!

June

Fox River Muskies:
The Saturday of Memorial Day weekend marks the musky season opener in the northern region of the state (above HWY 10). This can be a good time to target some of the giant muskies in the Fox River before they move out to the bay.

July

Lake Winnebago Walleyes:
Lake Winnebago becomes the top destination for Sterling Guide Service in July where limits of walleyes are common on a daily basis. Learn how to troll for open water walleyes and take home a limit of fresh walleyes for the best fish fry you will ever have.

August

Green Bay Walleyes:  Ever catch a 10, 11, or 12 pound walleye? August on Green Bay offers a great opportunity to get one and Sterling Guide Service will be out there everyday working for them.

September, October & November

SE Wisconsin, Green Bay & Fox River Musky:  Sterling Guide Service finishes the season by targeting the best trophy musky bites through out the region. This is a chance of a lifetime to catch a true “trophy” class fish at its maximum weight. While we cover a broad range of musky waters this time of year, we stick with the waters that are producing best with the greatest chance to get “The Big One”!
